Doug Brown focuses his practice on commercial litigation and the defense of malpractice claims against professionals in the legal field. Doug represents clients in commercial litigation with an emphasis on consumer practices claims under Florida's Little F.T.C. Act?, litigation and relationships between manufacturers and dealers, and federal and state RICO claims. As part of his practice, Doug has experience and routinely represents clients in class action litigation, including that conducted under the American Arbitration Association's new class action rule which came into effect on October 8, 2003. In his practice, he has represented individuals and both private and publicly held U.S. and foreign companies. He regularly represents clients in the automotive, marine, and pest control industries. Doug has experience in commercial matters in which breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, conversion, negligence, misrepresentation, and violation/noncompliance with federal and state statutes allegations are at issue as well as claims for punitive damages. Doug has authored articles and been a guest lecturer on consumer practice litigation issues involving Florida's Little F.T.C. Act. Prior to joining Rumberger, Kirk and Caldwell in 1987, Doug handled antitrust cases as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida. He subsequently worked at the Federal Trade Commission where he handled cases in the areas of consumer litigation and antitrust.
