Michael Begey presently concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability, commercial litigation and professional liability. Representing clients in the aviation, automotive, consumer and industrial product fields, Michael has defended against claims of defect in the design and manufacture of a variety of products. He has represented aviation clients against claims involving engine design. Michael has defended automotive clients in cases involving components and systems including seat belts and occupant restraints, airbags, door latch, window glazing, padding, suspension systems, seat backs, and roofs. He has experience in the defense of crashworthiness, handling and stability, fuel-fed fire, cargo retention, and toxic tort allegations. He also represents motorcycle helmet manufacturers against claims of product defect. Not limited to the defense of personal injury and death claims, Michael also represents manufacturers against claims of property damage arising from electrical fires. Michael's product liability practice includes the representation of manufacturers of industrial products. He also represents manufacturers of consumer products including blenders and televisions. Michael devotes a significant part of his time to the representation of clients involved in commercial litigation. In this aspect of his practice, he is part of a team representing clients against claims of illegal tax shelters, RICO and negligence. Michael also handles the defense of professional liability claims in the accounting and legal fields. While not currently a significant portion of his practice, Michael has experience defending general tort claims and automotive manufacturers against breach of warranty/lemon law claims.
