ANDREW M. RAUCH, P.E., S.E., LEED® AP Structural Engineering | Vice President & Director of Quality Assurance Mr. Rauch is Vice President and BKBM's Director of Quality Assurance. His experience includes all major building types including educational, historic rehabilitations, correctional and justice facilities. He formulated BKBM's Quality Assurance program and oversees its implementation. He also supervises BKBM's Risk Management program including such issues as loss prevention, general and professional liability insurance, and workers compensation. Mr. Rauch's structural engineering experience includes previous management of BKBM's civil/structural engineering group. He is currently on the CASE Executive Committee and Chairs the CASE National "Guidelines" Committee. Mr. Rauch is the Past President of CASE/MN. The building was also designed with a partial basement and limited underground parking. The building structure was a post-tensioned flat plate concrete structure. Limited portions of the roof and floor framing were completed with structural steel. The project was designed to achieve a platinum LEED certification. Sustainable design features related to structural engineering in the building include; a floor plan arranged to maximize day lighting; the substitution of a minimum of 40% fly ash for Portland cement in the concrete; raised access flooring for under-floor air distribution; photovoltaic panels on the roof; an on-site wind turbine Winona State University, Winona, MNPrincipal in Charge/Project Manager for an 112,000 square foot science facility, demolition of a 5,700 auditorium and the renovation of 60,000 square feet of the existing facility. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, St. Paul - Project Manager / Project Engineer for a new office and laboratory facility. The building structure is three-story, 233,000 square feet on occupied levels. A 12,000 square foot detached parking garage was also constructed adjacent to the building. Burnsville Performing Arts Center, Burnsville, MNPrincipal In Charge for a new two-story building housing a 1,000 seat proscenium stage theatre and a smaller 150 seat Black Box theatre that opened in January 2009. The main entry structure features a curved two-story glass façade. The main theatre structure includes a large cantilevered balcony slab, a full grid iron for the stage rigging, and an orchestra pit. Additional building space included rehearsal rooms, meeting rooms an art gallery, and multi-purpose space to host banquets and meetings. Ramsey County Law Enforcement, St. Paul, MNPrincipal In Charge for a multi-section court and jail facility. The building is comprised of a six-story jail, three-story sheriff's office, two-story court facility and a two-story section that houses a kitchen for the jail, an indoor / outdoor recreation space and a sallyport. Project also consisted of a subgrade parking garage located beneath the courts. Foundation construction system is concrete filled steel pipe pile. Typical floors in the jail are precast and the rest of the facility is precast plank with steel beams. Crescent Ridge Phase I, Minnetonka, MN - Project Manager for an eight-level, 260,000 square foot office building with a 525 stall parking ramp. This structure consists of a slab on grade and one supported level comprised of precast double tees, beams, and columns. The ramp is connected via a skyway system. Crescent Ridge Phase II, Minnetonka, MN - Project Manager for a nine-level, 290,000 square foot office building with a 647 stall parking ramp. The ramp consists of bituminous pavement on grade and one supported level comprised of precast double tees, beams, and columns. The ramp is connected via a skyway system.
