Baricaid is a privately held company based in Woburn, Massachusetts. The company employs 75 people and generates $12 million in annual revenue. Baricaid specializes in the development and manufacturing of medical devices for spinal surgery. Their flagship product, the Barricaid® device, is a permanent implant designed to address large defects in the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc. This device consists of a titanium bone anchor and a flexible polymer barrier, aiming to prevent disc reherniation and collapse after lumbar discectomy surgery. The Barricaid® device has undergone rigorous clinical trials, including a randomized superiority trial with over 550 patients. This study demonstrated the device's effectiveness in reducing reherniation rates and improving patient outcomes compared to traditional surgical methods.
