ALASKA INSTITUTE FOR JUSTICE

The Alaska Institute for Justice is a nonprofit organization based in Anchorage, Alaska. Employing nine individuals, AIJ focuses its efforts on protecting the human rights of Alaskans. AIJ offers a variety of services, including direct legal aid to immigrant and refugee communities, particularly focusing on survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. They prioritize representation for those fleeing persecution in their home countries. Additionally, AIJ provides language access to legal, medical, and social service professionals, as well as clients, through trained interpreters and translators. The organization also conducts social and climate justice work in collaboration with Alaska Native communities. Founded in 2005, AIJ was originally known as the Alaska Immigration Justice Project.
