Activate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Berkeley, California. Founded in 2015, the company supports a team of 162 employees. Activate empowers scientists to launch startups focused on tackling climate change and other global challenges. Through their two-year Activate Fellowship program, they provide scientists with the necessary skills, networks, funding, and infrastructure to commercialize their groundbreaking research. Activate works collaboratively with government agencies, philanthropic organizations, universities, and private sector businesses to achieve its mission. Activate distinguishes itself through its unique entrepreneurial fellowship model, inspired by Cyclotron Road, the first U.S. Department of Energy's Lab Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP) launched at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
