Mr. Davell was born in Dayton, Ohio and admitted to the Florida Bar in 1976 and to the United States Supreme Court in 1980. Mr. Davell is also a member of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida and Middle District of Florida. He received his undergraduate degree from Wright State University (B.S. summa cum laude) in 1969 and his M.B.A. from Wright State University in 1971. Mr. Davell received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Stetson University in 1976. During law school, Mr. Davell was a member of Phi Delta Phi and served as an executive editor of the Stetson Law Review in 1975. Mr. Davell is the author of "Florida's Beaches - A Realistic Approach" (Vol. V, No. 2. 1975). Mr. Davell is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and was active in the Young Lawyers Section, where he served as President in 1979. Mr. Davell has also served as a past chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Florida Bar and was the secretary and a member of the Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division. He has lectured at banking seminars and is active on the Construction Law Committee. Mr Davell has also served as the second President of the Leadership Broward Alumni Association and is a graduate of the Lifework Leadership Class of 2007.
