As senior vice president of strategic contracting for Avendra, Walt Sheffler oversees supply chain management for all products and related services associated with Avendra's professional procurement offering. This includes oversight of both national and regional contracting throughout North America, Mexico and Latin America. The Strategic Contracting group is responsible for contracting goods and services totaling nearly $3 billion in annual spend and working with more than 900 suppliers. Walt began his career with Marriott Hotels and Resorts as a management trainee. He then held various hotel property positions of increasing responsibility. He subsequently moved to Marriott International Worldwide Headquarters, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Corporate Finance, Corporate Procurement, Marriott Distribution Services and The Marketplace by Marriott. Before joining Avendra as a charter member of the management team in 2001, he was vice president of procurement for Marriott International, responsible for food and beverage procurement activities worldwide. Walt is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and a Certified Internal Auditor. He has also attended executive management courses at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.
