Steve Janik is a founding partner of Ball Janik LLP. His principal areas of practice are real estate, real estate finance, and land use law, with an emphasis on large, high-profile projects. Mr. Janik has argued several of Oregon's landmark land use cases. His real estate projects have included mixed-use, multi-block developments, major office towers, hotels, and sports stadiums. Mr. Janik was elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1990 and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1987. He has served as the Chairman of the Oregon State Bar Real Estate and Land Use Section, has been an editor of the Bar's multi-volume treatise Real Property, and has frequently lectured on a broad range of real estate and land use topics at professional seminars. Mr. Janik has served on numerous civic boards and special projects, ranging from the boards of several major arts institutions to City and regional task forces. A graduate of Harvard College (B.A., magna cum laude, 1969), he earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1974, and his M.B.A., with Distinction, from Harvard Business School in 1974. He is admitted to practice in Oregon.
