Sherry is uniquely qualified to own and operate a company such as VisionCor. She has extensive experience in business process analysis and reengineering as well as information development, including documentation, training, and software design and development. Her experience spans several vertical markets as well. During her career, she has been involved in and responsible for managing information development departments for various companies, including American Express and Broadway & Seymour. Sherry started the company as TrainingVisions in 1990. The name was changed to VisionCor in 1997 to reflect a broader set of service offerings. Sherry provides direction and leadership toward the achievement of VisionCor's philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. She also focuses on cultivating and developing relationships, and prospecting for new business and legacy accounts. Sherry ensures that VisionCor and its programs, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to the public and relevant stakeholders. Sherry has received numerous awards. She was named the Woman Business Owner of the Year in 2000 by the National Association of Women Business Owners-Charlotte Chapter, named to the Top 25 Women in Business in 1999 by The Business Journal, and named a finalist for the Charlotte Business Woman of the Year Award in 2001 by Wachovia and Queens University of Charlotte. Under Sherry's leadership, VisionCor has consistently ranked in the Top 25 Largest Area Women-Owned Companies in The Business Journal's Book of Lists, and was named to the Top 50 Women-Owned Businesses in North Carolina in 2006 and 2007 by DiversityBusiness.com. Sherry holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and both a master's and an advanced graduate degree from Appalachian State University.
