Sharon Hegarty brings expertise from agency, association and corporate positions to Stratacomm clients. She has extensive background managing strategic public relations programs and large multi-million dollar initiatives for healthcare, education and automotive clients. Sharon co-manages the Detroit office as well as oversees accounts for the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, Chrysler LLC and Altarum Institute, a nonprofit research institute focusing on objective health systems research and solutions. Her work for these clients includes messaging, brand building, grassroots outreach, strategic counsel, media relations, event management and product support. Before joining Stratacomm, Sharon spent eight years at an international public relations firm in Detroit, leading an account team that handled public relations activities for General Motors, University of Michigan Business School and Chrysler, among others. During her tenure, she spent several years working with GM's Health Care Initiatives Group working on proactive media relations, workplace wellness programs, and the development and implementation of a bone marrow donation program. She also spent three years working on-site at GM's International Product Center, the export arm for GM's North American-sourced vehicles, where she worked with international media representatives and GM offices around the world to promote products sold overseas. Sharon also spent several years at another international public relations firm in Chicago focusing on healthcare programs. Her experience includes product launches, media relations campaigns, consumer and physician education programs and special events for Fortune 500 clients and national associations including Eli Lilly, American Diabetes Association, Abbott Laboratories, TAP Pharmaceuticals and the American Foundation for Urologic Disease. She played an integral role in developing a partnership program between the Senior PGA TOUR, the American Foundation for Urologic Disease and corporate sponsors to develop a national public health education campaign, and managed the partnership relationships throughout the program. Her background also includes the leadership position of communications manager for a nonprofit association. Sharon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
