Shams has a strong entrepreneurial track record in the financial technology space. In 1999, Shams founded Advanced Financial Applications (AFA) and its broker/dealer subsidiary EGS. Over the next seven years, while Shams served as head of Product Development and a member of the Management Committee, AFA developed and deployed five separate versions of their core order management system which was successfully rolled out to hedge fund clients. Nirvana's product differentiation and competitive positioning is greatly influenced by Shams? extensive client interaction and hands on experience in derivative trading and risk management. Prior to starting AFA, Shams spent over 10 years at Morgan Stanley as a Derivative Specialist, with assignments in New York, San Francisco and Asia. Shams has an MBA in quantitative finance & economics from the Stern School of Business, New York University.
