Samuel N. Hazen is President of Operations for Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services. He oversees the operations of the company's 164 hospitals and 106 freestanding surgery centers, domestically and in the U.K. Previously, Hazen was President of HCA's Western Group since 2001. In that role, he had responsibility for 63 hospitals in nine states. Hazen began his career in Humana's Financial Management Training Program in 1983. He has served as a CFO for hospitals in Georgia and Nevada and as a regional CFO in Kentucky. In 1994, he joined HCA as the company's North Texas Division CFO. He was named HCA's Western Group CFO in 1995 and served in that role until he was promoted to his current position on July 30, 2001. Hazen earned his bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Kentucky in 1982 and his master's degree in business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1988. Hazen is married with two children. He was born on July 30, 1960.
