Dee Sams joined the firm in 1971 and has been a partner since 1974 primarily practicing in the area of civil litigation and workers? compensation defense. Mr. Sams has represented insurance carriers and self-insurers in the defense of workers? compensation claims since 1973. He has served as lead counsel in the trial of over 100 jury and non-jury civil litigation cases, primarily involving personal injury and wrongful death. He has litigated coverage disputes on behalf of insurance carriers in both the trial and appellate courts. Mr. Sams attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for two years where he studied aeronautical engineering, after which he transferred to Mercer University and the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, earning his B.A. degree and his J.D., cum laude, in 1971. He was elected to the Mercer Law Review and served for three years. During his senior year in law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Mercer Law Review. He is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and the Macon Bar Association. He has been a frequent speaker at continuing education seminars on topics involving both personal injury defense and workers? compensation defense.
