Richard P. Rick? McKenney Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Rick McKenney joined Unum in July 2009 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. In this capacity, he is responsible for evaluating and establishing a strategy for the financial performance of the company. He articulates policy recommendations and is directly involved in key governance committees and multi-functional groups throughout the company. McKenney also oversees the finance division, which includes accounting, tax, financial planning, investor relations, enterprise risk management, and corporate facilities management. Prior to joining Unum, McKenney was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sun Life Financial, Inc., an international financial services company based in Toronto. From 2004 to 2007, McKenney was senior vice president and chief financial officer for Genworth Financial, Inc., in Richmond, Virginia. His professional career began in 1991 in the Manufacturing Management Program at the General Electric Company. After a variety of roles in manufacturing and on the GE audit staff, he joined GE Financial Assurance in 1996 as manager of financial planning and analysis. There he held a number of leadership positions before being named chief financial officer in 2002. McKenney graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He and his wife, Pam, have three children and reside in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
