I participate in a profession that ensures financial accountability and integrity in the financial reporting process. Our services to governments, businesses and nonprofits are of great benefit to citizens and shareholders as well as donors. The public accounting profession provides a diverse set of challenges and opportunities, which means both professional development and financial rewards. Why do you like working at MGO? Our people give me the incentive to commit my career to MGO. Our partner group is comprised of professionals who are committed to the profession and have the common goal of building our firm to be a Top 100 CPA practice. We re all energetic and conduct ourselves with a great degree of professionalism and integrity. Our staff is motivated and willing to learn and stretch themselves to help achieve firm goals and initiatives. What engagements have provided the greatest sense of accomplishment and pride? They range from the smallest to the very largest engagements. I ve served many small nonprofit organizations that are not sophisticated in their approach to management or governance. We ve assisted them in creating much improved internal controls and operating processes. This effort has resulted in the organizations either keeping or increasing their funding. We ve also assisted the Boards of Directors for those clients in improving their governance practices to enhance their effectiveness and enable them to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities. I m also extremely proud of our successful effort in winning contracts with the country's two largest retirement funds. What qualities do you look for in job applicants? Enthusiasm, work ethic, attitude and a desire to be a professional. Who are you outside the office? I value faith, family, service, integrity and professionalism. Outside the office I spend a lot of time with my kids and work on developing their characters, attitudes and interests. Personally I enjoy a variety of sports and play guitar, when time permits, and my wife and I enjoy a country living? type of environment and lifestyle.
