About Richard Bertman
Richard J. Bertman is a founding Principal of CBT. Mr. Bertman's work graces the skyline and streetscapes of Boston with such landmarks as 111 Huntington Avenue, Trinity Place, and 200 Newbury Street. He has been the force behind prominent restorations and renovations of historic buildings throughout the Northeast, including the Ames Webster House, Louis Boston, Harvard University's Matthews Hall, The John Adams Courthouse, and the Thomas Crane Public Library. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Mr. Bertman was past President of the Boston Society of Architects which awarded him a lifetime achievement award, their highest individual award. He holds undergraduate degrees from Harvard University and MIT, and a Master of Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Bertman is also known for producing a radical series of three-dimensional mechanical sculptures, meshing together gears, pulleys, switches and wheels with wire and fabric to forge colorful moving creations.
