As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Alfieri is responsible for the overall management, including maintenance, operation and enhancement of IPRO's technology infrastructure required to meet corporate and contractual obligations. He also serves as IPRO's Security Officer. Mr. Alfieri has over 23 years of experience in the Health Care Information Technology arena. His accomplishments include development and enhancement of statewide and national health information systems; management of state and federal health care programs; contract negotiation and compliance; work plan development; interface requirements definition; technological needs assessment; operational procedure review; and vendor evaluation and assessment. Prior to joining IPRO, Mr. Alfieri served as Project Manager at Beth Israel Medical Center (New York City) in the Hospital Clinical Systems Department. In this position, he was responsible for enterprise-wide needs analysis, contract negotiation, system selection and implementation of comprehensive computer system solutions addressing areas such as admission and discharge, physician order entry, laboratory, radiology, medical records imaging, and pharmacy. He had similar responsibilities as Assistant Director of MIS at Shared Services, a multi-hospital environment. Mr. Alfieri's employment as Senior Consultant in the Health Care Consulting Division of Ernst & Whinney (later Ernst & Young) complements his data background in health care. Recipient of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 2005 Award for Outstanding Service to the SDPS Community, Mr. Alfieri has served on several New York State and CMS Committees and Workgroups including: NYS Multi-Industry HIPAA Task Force; NYS Universal Date Set Committee; CMS 2001-2206 QualityNet Conference Planning Committees; Standard Data Processing System (SDPS, the CMS QIO National Data System) Data Work Group; SDPS Data Updates Workgroup; QIAC-QIO-IT Advisory Board; AHQA Data Network Steering Committee; and AHQA Technical Steering Committee. He has chaired the SDPS Systems Workgroup and the SDPS Payment Error Prevention Workgroup and presented at numerous national conferences. He has also held faculty positions at New York City Community College (Physics Department) and St. Joseph's College (Biology Department). He currently serves on the School Board of Our Lady of Mercy School on Long Island. Mr. Alfieri holds a Master of Science, Summa Cum Laude in Environmental Science from C.W. Post College and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
