Mr. Paul Friesen is a Principal of ECG with extensive experience in operating management, business strategy and restructuring, organizational effectiveness, competitive positioning, business development and financial management in the energy industry. Mr. Friesen, with more than 20 years at General Electric Company, has held senior operating executive and management positions at both GE Power Systems and GE Capital. At ECG, Mr. Friesen has worked on a variety of corporate strategy and market planning projects for global OEMs in the power systems, energy storage and materials businesses. Prior to ECG, his most recent position was President & CEO of GE Global Compression Services (GCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Capital. GCS (now Universal Compression) is engaged in compressor equipment leasing, fabrication, sales, and service to the oil & gas industry with operations in South America, Far East, Europe, and USA. Prior to GE Capital, Mr. Friesen held various senior management positions at GE Power Systems: General Manager - Steam Turbine Products, General Manager - Power Generation Marketing, General Manager - Sales Programs Operations and Manager- Business Development. As General Manager of Steam Turbine Products, he had profit and loss responsibility for GE's worldwide steam turbine products business and led the development of its business strategy, advanced technology programs, new product introduction plans, and the penetration of non-traditional markets (e.g. Egypt, Malaysia and Indonesia). Mr. Friesen managed 600 salaried and 2,500 hourly individuals at several plants throughout the U.S. As General Manager or Power Generation Marketing, he set the strategic direction for the global power generation business, marketed all of GE Power generation products and services and assessed markets for advanced technologies. Prior to joining GE, Mr. Friesen was Manager of Business Development & Product Planning for Mechanical Technology Inc., an energy technology commercialization company. He is also a principal owner of TriStar Power, Inc., a provider of turnkey energy solutions for small to medium size companies. Mr. Friesen has a B.S. degree, with Honors, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston and has participated extensively in GE's training and Executive Development Programs.
