Chief Executive Officer PAUL S. CASTRO Paul S. Castro is chief executive officer of Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFS), a multi-faceted, multi-service organization serving individuals and families throughout Los Angeles. Castro's vision and leadership have successfully built on the agency's more than 150-year history, enhancing its reputation and adapting services to the community's changing needs. Prior to becoming CEO in 2000, he held several leadership positions at JFS during his three decades of service, including chief financial officer and associate executive director. In these positions, he used his financial acumen, sound judgment and insight to help manage the day-to-day operations of the $27 million agency. A native of Los Angeles, Castro has more than 30 years of professional and volunteer experience in the non-profit community. He has worked tirelessly throughout his career to further the opportunities for disadvantaged and disenfranchised communities in the areas of social justice, philanthropy and fundraising. He has effectively advocated for services for the most vulnerable members of the community at the local, state and federal level. He is a noted expert on a wide range of non-profit sector issues including creating new visions for service delivery, public policy advocacy and fiscal and board accountability. An active member of the national non-profit community, Castro currently serves on the boards of Families International and the Association of Jewish Family and Children's Agencies (AJFCA). Castro is president emeritus of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy and a former board member of the Alliance for Children and Families. His accomplishments and contributions to the community have been recognized by the United Latino Fund and the Alliance for Children and Families, among others. Castro graduated from California State University at Fullerton with a B.A. in ethnic studies and holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.
