About Norman Strong
Architect and partner, Norman Strong was born in Moscow, Idaho, in 1954. He received a cum laude bachelor of architecture degree in 1978 from Washington State University. He joined Miller Hull in 1979 and was named partner in 1985, assuming the role of managing partner within the firm. Active in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Norm was a board member of the Washington State AIA Council as well as the Northwest and Pacific Region of the AIA (2002?3). In addition, he has served as AIA Seattle chapter president (2000?1) and AIA vice president and member of the board of directors (2005?7). Most recently he has been leading the SDiG (Sustainability Discussion Group ), a national AIA road show? focused on listening and getting out the word on AIA's sustainability blueprint for America. Other community activities have included serving on the advisory council of the Washington State University School of Architecture, as well as being aboard member and chair of the South District and West Seattle YMCA. Norm was named a Fellow by the American Institute of Architects in 2004. He received the BetterBricks Advocate Award in 2007, which recognizes those who advocate for and support the design and operation of high-performance buildings, including consultants as well as workers in the government, nonprofit, and educational sectors.
