Michael R. Milazzo, CPA, MBA is a partner at Skoda Minotti's Akron office. He has over 18 years experience consulting with publicly- and privately-held businesses on federal and state tax matters. Mike practices extensively in the areas of corporate, partnership, and individual taxation. Mike has significant experience in the field of corporate tax outsourcing. In this capacity, he has served as acting tax director for many companies, which includes preparing FAS 109 provisions, maintaining outside auditor relationships, handling all tax notices and compliance and providing a company with an effective overall tax strategy. Mike also has a wealth of experience regarding the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions. He has been involved in all phases of acquisitions and divestitures including planning, structuring and due diligence. In total, Mike has been involved in over 150 transactions in his career. Prior to joining Skoda Minotti, Mike was a tax manager with a national firm. He holds both Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) and Master of Business Administration degrees (with honors) from John Carroll University. Mike placed third in Ohio and in the top 100 in the Country on the November 1990 CPA exam. He co-authored an article on Mergers and Acquisitions that was published in Taxes , The Tax Magazine , and has been quoted on new tax law. Mike has also been published locally in The Plain Dealer and Smart Business Network Magazine. Mike is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is an active member on the John Carroll University Department of Accountancy Board of Advisors where he is responsible for helping to set the direction of the Accounting Department.
