Linda Miller Savitt is a partner of Ballard, Rosenberg, Golper & Savitt and practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law on behalf of management. She is a graduate of UCLA and Loyola University School of Law (JD 1980). Ms. Savitt is an experienced trial attorney having tried over 70 jury trials and is an advocate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). She specializes in defending employers and individuals who are sued for wrongful termination, employment discrimination harassment based on sex, race or other protected classifications. She is also a member of the State and County Bar Labor and Employment Sections, a committee member of the State Bar Special Advisory Subcommittee on Labor and Employment Jury Instructions and is a Secretary Treasure of the Association of the Southern California Defense Counsel. She was named one of California's top 10 defense employment lawyers in 2009 by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and one of the State's top 75 women litigators in 2006 and again in 2007. She has also been named as a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2005-2009 and was named one of the Top 50 Female Super Lawyers and Top 100 Southern California Super Lawyers. In 2003, she had been named by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of California's Top 50 Women Litigators. She was also featured in a cover story profile in the Los Angeles Daily Journal Verdicts and Settlements in April 2001. In 2006, she received an award of attorneys fees for her client against the EEOC, for having to defend against a meritless case involving six claimants alleging harassment and pregnancy discrimination. This was the largest award ever against the EEOC. Ms. Savitt has represented the health care industry, public sector, retail, law firms and other industries for over 25 years and successfully defended numerous cases of harassment and related issues. She was the trial lawyer who successfully defended San Pedro Peninsula Hospital in Fisher v. San Pedro Peninsula Hospital (1989) 214 Cal.App.3d 590 and received a defense verdict at trial. She also successfully defended Saret-Cook v. Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley and Jennett (1999) 74 Cal.App.4th 1211, a claim of sexual harassment and sex discrimination and received a $450,000 judgment for her client on a cross-complaint against Ms. Saret-Cook as well as an award of attorneys fees. Ms. Savitt frequently lectures to management groups, administrators, judges and physician groups as well as various bar sponsored groups. She also serves as a volunteer court appointed mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court's mediation program and is a member of the 2005-2006 Blue Ribbon Committee on the Superior Court. She is currently Vice President of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and will be President in 2011.
