Mr. Bateman began his career at Somerset Medical Center in 2000 as vice president of financial operations and was subsequently promoted to his current position. Prior to joining the medical center, Mr. Bateman spent nearly 20 years in the health care industry, serving in a variety of capacities at acute care and rehabilitation hospitals, nursing homes and psychiatric facilities. He most recently served as director of finance at the Edison-based Solaris Health System, which includes JFK Medical Center and Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. He was also the former chief financial officer at Preferred Behavioral Health in Lakewood, and was assistant vice president of finance at Kimball Medical Center, also in Lakewood. He previously was an audit manager at KPMG Peat Marwick, Short Hills. Bateman holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in healthcare administration, both from Seton Hall University in South Orange. He was recently appointed to the board of the New Jersey Hospital Association, a 111-member advocacy organization, and serves as a member of the Raritan Valley Community College Foundation Board of Directors. He is also a member of the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hospital Financial Management Association.
