Julia has practiced law for more than fifteen years, with a primary focus on counseling, clearance and compliance with respect to trademarks, domain names, advertising, sweepstakes and promotions. She also had substantial hands-on litigation experience early in her career, before she came to her senses. She has been active in the International Trademark Association since 1999. She currently serves as a member of the Fair Use and Other Boundaries Subcommittee of INTA's Emerging Issues Committee, and has previously served as Chair of INTA's Special Projects Subcommittee of the Trademark Administrators Committee. She is also a member of the Promotion Marketing Association. Julia is admitted to practice in both North and South Carolina , and is active in the North Carolina Bar Association, including its Intellectual Property Section. She formerly practiced in the Winston-Salem office of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP (1992-2000). She received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, cum laude, in 1992, and her B.A. in Psychology, cum laude, from Davidson College in 1988.
