Joseph S. McCarthy is Principal, Treasurer / Chief Accounting Officer for Urban Retail Properties, LLC where he oversees the Corporate Accounting Department. Mr. McCarthy has 19 years of real estate accounting experience, the last 17 of which have been with Urban Retail. Mr. McCarthy is also responsible for supervising the company's three Regional Accounting Managers and oversees the accounting and banking activities at all managed properties including regional malls, community shopping centers, mixed-use properties, and office buildings. He coordinates new property takeovers with ownership and Urban Retail personnel, and manages the Corporate Accounts Payable department, Retail Accounting department, and Cash Management department. Mr. McCarthy has personally supervised the transition of accounting and reporting for more than 40 management transitions during his tenure with Urban Retail. From 1988 through 2002, Mr. McCarthy was Vice President, Regional Accounting Manager for Urban Retail. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing property accountants and accounting functions for all properties managed in the Eastern and Southern regions. In addition, he reviewed and assisted with implementation of all corporate software and accounting procedural changes, and performed property audits to ensure compliance with corporate policies and integrity of lease data and billings. Mr. McCarthy received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany and holds a Real Estate Broker License in the State of New York.
