James L. Pursley joined Hochschild, Bloom & Company LLP in August 2004. He was promoted to Supervisor in June 2005, Manager in January 2007, and then Director in January 2010. Prior to joining the Firm he worked at another local St. Louis CPA firm. Since joining the Firm, Mr. Pursley has performed numerous compilations, reviews, audits, taxation, and consulting services for various clients of the Firm. His current duties with the Firm include managing engagements, professional staff supervision and development, accounting research, review of client accounting and operating procedures, and Firm administration and marketing. His areas of concentration include closely-held businesses, medical practices, employee benefit plans, wholesale/ distribution, governmental, and nonprofit organizations. Educational Background and Certification Mr. Pursley graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Mr. Pursley passed the November 2003 CPA examination and received his CPA certificate from the Missouri State Board of Accountancy in February 2004. Continuing Education Mr. Pursley participates in various professional development courses sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, and in-house courses. He has consistently exceeded the requirements of the profession for the past several years. His education has included accounting, auditing, taxation, governmental, employ-ee benefit plans, and management development. Professional Memberships Mr. Pursley is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves on its Accounting and Auditing Committee. Mr. Pursley is also a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
