For Genetic Alliance, innovation extends beyond the creation of new processes and technologies to the disruption, reorganization, and realigning of systems. In his role as Chief Innovation Officer, James O Leary works to foster innovation within Genetic Alliance and the community at large. James has worked over the past six years at Genetic Alliance to build collaborations between diverse stakeholders. He uses his experience in community health, grassroots action, and genetics to advance the goal of better health for individuals, families, and communities. During his tenure at Genetic Alliance, James has focused on health information technology, web application development, family health history, community-based public health, and advocacy for responsible legislation surrounding genetic nondiscrimination. As the past chair of the American Public Health Association Genomics Forum, he works to integrate genetics into public health and redefine the way patients are informed, engaged, and empowered. A graduate of the University of Delaware, James earned a BS in Biology, concentrating in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genetics. Prior to joining Genetic Alliance, James worked with PA Victory ?04 supporting the John Kerry campaign.
