Landstar Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Henry Gerkens has been an integral part of Landstar System, Inc. since its inception in 1988. Beginning his Landstar career as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Gerkens was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1994. In 2000, he was elected to the company's Board of Directors. In June, 2001, Mr. Gerkens was promoted to President and Chief Financial Officer and subsequently promoted again in December, 2001 to President and Chief Operating Officer. In July, 2004, he was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer and in January, 2010 he was named Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Gerkens began his career as a staff accountant at Price Waterhouse in 1972. From there he held various positions at General Host Corporation and the consumer packaged goods division of Chiquita Brands. Mr. Gerkens is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Adelphi University in Garden City, Long Island. He is currently a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Gerkens relocated with Landstar System, Inc. to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997. He lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with his wife Marcia and their three children.
