About Harmon Caldwell
Harmon W. Caldwell, Jr. has tried civil cases in Atlanta for 33 years. He has tried cases in every State and Federal Court in metropolitan Atlanta and many outside the Atlanta area. He prosecutes and defends cases involving breach of fiduciary duty, including claims against executors and trustees, and disputes between partners and shareholders of closely-held corporations. He also represents parties in complex business lawsuits and divorce. Mr. Caldwell has represented members of Atlanta's wealthiest and most influential families. He successfully represented Frances Tut? Woodruff in her suit to have the will of her father, Coca-Cola magnate George W. Woodruff, set aside; A. David West in his successful action to break up West Lumber Company and its related business entities; Anna Stanley in her divorce action against the Reverend Charles A. Stanley, and numerous others. He has successfully prosecuted numerous actions against banks such as SunTrust, Wachovia and Regions for breach of their fiduciary duties in the handling of his clients? interests in various estates and trusts. Mr. Caldwell brings creative and imaginative strategies to the cases he handles, and his experience provides valuable perspective. Many of his cases have received widespread publicity, either because of the nature of the case, the result, or both. He received the Georgia Super Lawyers designation in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 which is every year in which the designation has been made. Mr. Caldwell comes from a family with a tradition of service to the law and to the public. His father was Dean of the University of Georgia School of Law, President of the University of Georgia, and later served as Chancellor of the Board of Regents for the University System of the State of Georgia. Mr. Caldwell was born in Athens, Georgia in 1948. He attended the Westminster Schools in Atlanta. He graduated cum laude from Georgia State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree and a major in sculpture. He earned his juris doctor cum laude from the University of Georgia Law School in 1977. He is married to the former Cathleen O Donnell and has three children: Harmon, III, Kimberly, and Reagan. His hobbies include running, and he regularly runs marathons, toy train collecting, and he continues to make sculpture.
