About Giuseppe Giordo
Giuseppe Giordo is the Chief Executive Officer of Alenia North America and a Co-Chief Operating Officer of Alenia Aeronatuica, Military Airlift Division (MAD). As Co-COO, Mr. Giordo oversees the C-27J and G222 refurbishment programs, including the related engineering, procurement, human resources, production and support activities of these programs. As President and CEO of Alenia North America Inc., Giuseppe Giordo is responsible for the company's military and commercial operations, industrial investments and collaborations in the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Giordo directs all production, distribution, and marketing activities in North America. He confers with customer representatives to evaluate marketing opportunities and to promote improved and expanded marketing campaigns; he oversees the relevant analysis of market conditions, sales, advertising, promotions, field services, personnel programs, the preparation of accounting records, and providing management with budget recommendations. In addition, Mr. Giordo develops and administers policies and programs designed to enhance the company's image and improve relations with customers, employees, shareholders and the general public. As President and CEO of Alenia North America, Mr. Giordo has played a leading role in expanding the company's presence in the North America. Since his appointment in 2004, the company has achieved several major milestones. In early 2005, the company established Global Aeronautica, a joint venture with Vought Aircraft Industries, its first industrial presence in the U.S. with over 700 employees, Global Aeronautica is responsible for assembling and integrating over 60% of Boeing's 787 carbon composite fuselages. In June 2007 the U.S. Army and Air Force selected Alenia's C-27J Spartan for its 145-aircraft fleet of Joint Cargo Aircraft. Mr. Giordo has overseen the negotiation of joint ventures and teaming agreements with major U.S. and Canadian defense and aerospace companies to support and produce the C-27J in North America. In 2005, Alenia signed a joint venture with L-3 Integrated Systems, establishing Global Military Aircraft Systems (GMAS), which is responsible for logistics and training support of the North American fleet of C-27Js. Additionally, Mr. Giordo has led the negotiations with the State of Florida and Jacksonville community to establish a second Final Assembly line for the C-27J at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2008, Mr. Giordo signed the incentive and economic development agreements with the City and State, committing Alenia establishing a workforce of over 300 in a facility capable of producing 30 aircraft per year. Also in 2008, Mr. Giordo oversaw the establishment of Alenia North America as a major U.S. Department of Defense prime contractor with the award of a $287 million contract from the U.S. Air Force. Alenia North America will provide modernized C-27/G222 medium lift aircraft and associated systems to the Combined Security Transition Command for the rebuilding of the Afghanistan National Army Air Corps. Prior to becoming Alenia North America's President and CEO, Mr. Giordo served as the Vice President of Marketing and North American Operations for Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A. From 2000 to 2003, he served as the Head of International Marketing, during which time he spearheaded the sale of C-27J Spartans to Greece. In this position, Mr. Giordo oversaw the production and distribution of marketing campaigns in an effort to expand the company's international presence. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Giordo was employed by Alenia Aerospazio, Divisione Aeronautica, in the executive position of Director, International Market Development for Europe, Southern Africa and Brazil. Prior to that, he worked as the Director of International Trade Development in charge of industrial participation, the Business Development Manager, the International and Research Program Commercial Manager, and the Business Manager for the AV-8B Program. Mr. Giordo was born in Treviso, Italy in 1965. After earning a degree in economics and then a law degree from La Sapienza University in Rome, he served for three years in the Italian Air Force, achieving the rank of Tenant Officer. Mr. Giordo is also a Member of the Board for DRS Technologies. Mr. Giordo is married and has two children.
