Dean W. Gabriel, Ph. D., president and chairman of IPG (e-mail: [email protected]), founded IPG in 1998. He is also professor of plant pathology and plant molecular and cellular biology at the University of Florida. He has long been affiliated with the ICBR (Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research) and directs the ICBR Biological Safety Level 3 Plant Containment Facility on the UF campus. Dr. Gabriel has also served (1990-6) as a consultant on a United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (UNFAO) project to create transgenic poplars in China and (1998) as Panel Manager for the U.S.D.A.'s Biotechnology Risk Assessment grant program.
