After growing up in New York City, David moved away from city life to North Carolina in pursuit of his university degree at University of North CarolinaChapel Hill. At University, David received his bachelor's in Political Science with additional coursework completed in history, economics, and journalism. He continued at UNC to earn a certificate from UNC's Carolina Business Institute for which he studied accounting, finance, marketing and operations. Already showing the penchant for the creative visual field, David began working as a freelance photographer and photojournalist while at UNC as well as serving as Photography Editor of The Daily Tar Heel. He continued in the field for five years after graduation. However in 1995, it was at his first post-photography job, at DTS Language Services that he had exposure to website development, creating their initial corporate website and overseeing localization of customer websites. While still at DTS Language Services, in his free time, David become the first Webmaster for the Workforce Development Education Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and executed contract assignments for the interactive division of Signal Design, to be spun off in 1998 as NetworkArts. After the spin off of from Signal Design, David joined the organization eventually rising to Vice President and Partner. There he focused his attention on project management, staff resource allocation and customer support. It was at this time that David met his future partners Robert Weeks and Frank Yonetti. Once the opportunity arose in 2001, David, Robert and Frank founded DesignHammer. As Managing Partner, David handles the business aspects of the company, including sales, accounting, human resources and office management. David is also working with clients on general consulting, SEO and social networking, as well as administering the mail server, office LAN, and assisting with general server administration. David is a competitive sabre fencer and member of the Mid-South Fencer's Club in Durham, recently returning after a twenty-year hiatus. He was a member of the Mid-South Maurders,? which finished fourth-place in the Vet Combined Men's Team Saber event at the 2010 USFA Summer Nationals Competition. During his time at UNC, David was a member of the school's Fencing Team, won the USFA North Carolina Junior Sabre Championship in 1986. He is also a lifetime member of the UNC General Alumni Association and Exalted Order of the Has Beens. David has served as a director of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina and the North Carolina Hillel Foundation. He also continues with his passion for photography and has exhibited photography around the Triangle, including solo shows at Duke and UNC. He lives in Durham with his wife Suzanne and son.
