Craig heads the Washington D.C. office of the Bose Public Affairs Group, where he helps corporations, universities, trade associations and professional organizations achieve their federal policy, funding and public visibility objectives in Congress and the federal agencies. He brings nearly 20 years of experience as a congressional Chief of Staff, House Appropriations Committee staff member, and government relations professional to the task. Prior to establishing his government relations practice, Craig served as assistant vice president of federal affairs at Wayne State University, home to the largest single campus medical school in the U.S. In this role, he served as primary liaison to the Michigan congressional delegation, key executive branch policymakers, and members of the D.C.-based higher education and medical communities. During his service with WSU, Craig developed research, education, and public service funding initiatives which resulted in nearly $15 million in new federal funding for the university. He also coordinated a successful political effort to designate WSU as the permanent home of an intramural branch of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, resulting in an additional $200 million of federal investment to the Detroit, MI region over 10 years. Finally, he led a task force to obtain a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district from the State of Michigan, which resulted in over $10 million in funding for a WSU-sponsored, life sciences oriented research and technology park. On Capitol Hill, Craig served as chief of staff to Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-MI), where he coordinated the day-to-day operations of the D.C. and district congressional offices, managed a staff of 16 and an annual budget of approximately $1 million, and acted as the principal staff liaison to the House Appropriations and Education and Workforce committees. Craig also worked with the House Leadership, members and staff to implement the Congressman's legislative agenda, including a broad effort to accelerate cleanup of the U.S. Department of Energy's nuclear sites and successful legislative efforts to amend the Clean Water Act and the 1937 Housing Act. Prior to his service in the U.S. House, Craig worked as a research analyst for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, where he developed issue-based research for GOP incumbent Senators and challengers during the 1990 and 1992 election cycles.
