Christophe co-founded Genomatica in 2000. The company aims to transform the chemical industry through cost-advantaged, greener? intermediate and basic chemicals made from renewable feedstocks. Christophe has led Genomatica to pilot production with its first commercial product, BDO; widespread recognition as a leader in metabolic engineering; $40 million in investments from Texas Pacific Group, Mohr Davidow, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Alloy Ventures; $20 million in industry and government collaborations, including with Dow Chemical, Cargill, DSM, Unilever, the Department of Energy, National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and the National Science Foundation. Christophe's awards include the Top 100 Young Innovators from MIT's Technology Review, R&D100 for the SimPheny part of the company's technology platform, and the Distinguished Young Alumnus from Duke University's Edmund T. Pratt, Jr. School of Engineering. Christophe received his doctorate in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego where he was a Powell Foundation and Whitaker Foundation Fellow. He received his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University where he was a Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Fellow.
