Charlie Ingram is the NASS Program Director for the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA). He took the position in March 2009 and oversees all administrative, personnel and enumerator field activities for the NASS-NASDA cooperative program. For the past 10 years, Charlie was NASDA's Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs and handled natural resources, environmental, food safety and homeland security issues. Before joining NASDA in 1998, Charlie worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and represented the interests of the business community on environmental, energy, and natural resource issues before Congress and federal regulatory agencies. Charlie spent more than 8 years working on Capitol Hill. From 1977 to 1980, he served as Legislative Assistant to Rep. Bill Nichols (D-AL) and was Legislative Director to Rep. Bill Dickinson (R-AL) from 1980 to 1985. Charlie is originally from Southeast Alabama where his family operates a cattle, hay and timber business. He attended Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
