MANAGING DIRECTOR Andrew grew up in Gainesville, Florida, and became fascinated with communication and computers at an early age. In grade school, he tapped out community newspapers on his father's typewriter. When he got his first computer, a Macintosh SE, he was dazzled by the ability to elegantly assemble fonts and graphics on its tiny nine-inch screen. He realized that a publishing revolution was coming. As an undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Andrew combined his passion for cutting-edge communications technology with social change. He taught in the university computer labs and worked as a journalist and columnist, covering politics and public policy, while earning bachelor's degrees in political science and journalism. Later, Andrew taught interactive journalism (using Bulletin Board Systems and Netscape!) in the New York Times Company's Interactive Media Lab at the University of Florida, while earning an M.A. in political communication with a certificate in political campaigning. Since then, he has applied his knowledge to dozens of internet projects for the world's most innovative and influential organizations. Before coming to Forum One, he worked at the National Nonprofit Practice of Commerce One Global Services (formerly NMP/AppNet) and was a founding member of Beaconfire Consulting. Organized and always calm, Andrew leads teams of nonprofit and technology professionals as they develop internet solutions for marketing, advocacy, fundraising, collaboration, and other purposes. Andrew also coordinates Forum One's popular Web Executive Seminars, which highlight case studies by leading industry innovators. Appointed managing director in 2009, he helps Forum One implement the best practices we recommend to clients and provides thought leadership on strategy and development projects. He also leads Forum One's domestic health sector work. He is a regular speaker and panelist on internet strategy and social media approaches. You may not know: A life-changing experience was volunteering as a Big Brother, which he thinks makes him a better husband and parent to two kids.
