Alan Ratliff, CPA/CFF-MPA/JD, is a consulting and testifying expert witness on economic damages, accounting, business custom and practice, and valuation issues, as well as a forensic accountant. Alan has served as a court appointed Special Master, arbitrator and mediator, and testified at deposition or trial more than fifty times including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, fraud, employment, M&A, breach of contract, tax, statutory labor, business tort, and toxic tort litigations. Alan has his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting from Baylor University (Magna Cum Laude) and his law degree from Southern Methodist University (Cum Laude), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a managing editor of the Law Review. Alan speaks and writes regularly on accounting, damages, valuation and IP issues including in recent publications of the American Bar Association, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, Houston and Texas Tech Law Reviews. Alan has spoken at numerous litigation and IP conferences hosted by the ABA, AIPLA, IPO, and LES, along with state and local bars and associations, and has chaired and served on the local boards of the Federal Bar Association, Houston Bar Litigation Section Council, and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Alan is active in the community by focusing on education and the arts, serving or chairing the boards of Girls Incorporated, the Chinquapin School, Lawyer's in Public Schools, the Baylor University Development Council, Jazz Education, Inc., Theatre Under the Stars and Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts.
