Alan Charron is President of Real Property Specialists, Inc., a commercial real estate company he founded nearly two decades ago. After graduating with a finance degree from the University of Central Florida, Alan started in the appraisal business to gain an overall knowledge of the real estate industry. He worked in the appraisal business for five years to obtain the coveted MAI designation prior to going into commercial brokerage. Alan has performed appraisals on all types of commercial properties from high rise office buildings to shopping centers and subdivisions. In 1992, Alan formed Real Property Specialists, which specializes in site selection and the sale, leasing, management and development of shopping centers, restaurants and tourist oriented properties. In addition to brokerage, Alan has actively been involved in receivership/asset management and development. Presently, he owns a dozen retail centers across central Florida and others are in the planning stages of development. At this time, he is one of only a few developers statewide engaged in vertical? development with an Aldi grocery store and McDonald's restaurant under development on W. Colonial Drive in Orlando. Alan's firm has been recognized as the Firm of the Year? and has also been recognized for being in the top 20 in property management companies and top 20 brokerage companies in Central Florida. Individually, Alan has been recognized by the Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society as a top 10 producer and four time top five retail producer. In addition to the many companies Alan manages, he started "Retailer One-on-One" more than a decade ago together with Julia Sosa. This nationally recognized program has helped propel his company into being one of the local leaders in the industry. In 2003, Alan formed Retail Investment Specialists (RIS) with Robert Kaplus, an industry veteran with decades of development, management and marketing experience. RIS is a retail development holding company which owns numerous retail shopping centers from central to south Florida. RIS's most recent project was the redevelopment of a 44,000-square-foot grocery store into a multi-tenant shopping center located in Windermere, Florida, an upscale suburb of Orlando. Alan's community involvement includes having served as President of Habitat for Humanity of Osceola County as well as President of the Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society. He has also been recognized by the Orlando Sentinel for his special assistance with the local Boy Scouts. In addition, he has assisted other charitable organizations through his Retailer One on One company, has supported the Institute for Economic Competitiveness College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida, and was recently inducted into the prestigious UCF College of Business Administration Hall of Fame. Alan is also a member of the UCF President's Trust Society.
