Although he has been recognized many times for his social and business contributions, A.J. Spiegel is quick to put it all in perspective, "Mi-T-M is a company of very talented people who enjoy working for a common purposebuild the highest quality equipment possible and then support it like no one else in the business." A.J. Spiegel grew up on a farm near Peosta, Iowa, where he was taught the importance of a strong work ethic. He never forgot it. Early in his career, A.J. worked in construction, painting, and assembly with companies such as Flexsteel Industries Inc. and John Deere Dubuque Works before becoming an independent cleaning and painting contractor. He quickly recognized the need for small, self-contained, and affordable cleaning equipment and set out to design and build his first pressure washer, a 1000 PSI model that was aptly named the Mighty 1000. In 1971, the company Mi-T-M, an abbreviation of the Mighty 1000, was formed. A.J.'s reputation for fierce competitiveness and aggressive business savvy soon made Mi-T-M a commercial success. The Mi-T-M Corporation was born out of an opportunity to fulfill a need and that same philosophy is what drives the company today. A.J.'s work ethic is only matched by his generosity and desire to help the community where he grew up. In 2002, he built and donated an 80,000 square foot community center to the city of Peosta.
