WVP Health Authority, headquartered in Salem, Oregon, is a not-for-profit taxable mutual benefit organization. With 79 employees, the organization works to ensure access, advocacy, and innovation in health care. WVP Health Authority (formerly known as Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association) boasts a membership of over 500 physicians and a network including over 1,000 health care practitioners. WVP Health Authority develops programs and partnerships to help communities, particularly vulnerable populations, maintain access to quality healthcare. Their mission is to preserve and promote the wise use of health resources, enhance physicians' ability to act as patient advocates, and create a sound and ethical business environment that fosters flexibility and opportunities for improvement. Founded in 1976 as a provider panel for Capitol Health Care, WVP Health Authority has a rich history. It evolved into Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association in 1991 and then further expanded its services with a community-based OHP health plan in 2001. Subsequent years saw the development of Medicare Advantage special needs plans and additional Medicare Advantage plans, culminating in the creation of Liberty Street Clinic in 2009 to address unmet needs. WVP Home Health and MVP Medical Group were also established in 2010, solidifying the organization's commitment to serving its communities.
