Willoughby Municipal Court

Willoughby Municipal Court is a court located in Willoughby, Ohio. Established in 1952, the court serves a population of approximately 90,000 citizens in western Lake County. With a staff of 17 employees, the court handles nearly 15,000 cases annually, making it one of the busiest single-judge courts in Ohio. Willoughby Municipal Court has jurisdiction over ten communities and fourteen agencies, including the Cities of Eastlake, Kirtland, Wickliffe, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills, and Willowick, as well as the Villages of Kirtland Hills, Lakeline, Timberlake, and Waite Hill. The court's jurisdiction also extends to Lakeland Community College, the Cuyahoga and Lake County Metroparks, the Eastlake Port Authority, and ten other state and county agencies. Willoughby Municipal Court handles a variety of legal matters, including misdemeanors, ordinance violations, traffic cases, civil cases (up to $15,000 in controversy), and small claim complaints (up to $6,000 in controversy).
