WVRC Media, a media corporation based in Morgantown, West Virginia, traces its roots back to 1940 when it launched WAJR-AM. Over the decades, the company has grown significantly, now operating and controlling a network of 30 radio stations across six locations. WVRC Media is known for its statewide news, information, and sports network, MetroNews Radio, which reaches more than 50 affiliate stations. MetroNews holds exclusive radio and television rights to the West Virginia SSAC State High School championships in basketball, football, and baseball. The company's history is rooted in innovation, starting with the establishment of WAJR-FM in 1948 as one of the first commercial FM stations licensed in the United States.
