WCSC-TV5 is a television station located in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded with the mission of serving the Charleston community, it is the first television station in both Charleston and South Carolina. Employing 123 people, WCSC-TV5 generates an annual revenue of $500,000. WCSC-TV5 provides local news coverage to the area, known as "Live 5 News." The station is known for its innovative use of technology, having been the first in South Carolina to broadcast in full color, use videotapes for programming, offer live broadcasts from various locations throughout the Lowcountry, and utilize satellite technology. WCSC-TV5 also operates Live Super Doppler 5000, the only live, local radar in the Lowcountry. Throughout its history, WCSC-TV5 has been recognized for its excellence in broadcasting.
