Wayside Waifs

Wayside Waifs is a private, non-profit animal welfare organization based in Kansas City, Missouri. Founded in 1944, the organization is comprised of 85 staff members and 1,300 volunteers who work tirelessly to fulfill their mission. Wayside Waifs serves 25,000 pets and people annually through a wide range of programs. These include pet adoption, an Animal Rescue & Response Team, foster care, veterinary care, public dog training, a specialized Canine Behavior Center, a 5-acre off-leash dog park, onsite pet retail, humane education, community outreach/support for owned pets, a pet food pantry, and pet memorial services. The organization's signature social-emotional learning curriculum, No More Bullying!, teaches compassion, empathy, respect, responsibility, and humane treatment. This program is taught locally in Kansas City and in 26 states across the country. Wayside Waifs also believes in preventing abuse, neglect, and pet homelessness.
