Water Protector Legal Collective

The Water Protector Legal Collective is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization based in Mandan, North Dakota. Founded in response to the #NoDAPL movement, the organization has grown from its initial role as on-the-ground legal support for the resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline to a broader mission of advocating for Indigenous peoples, Original Nations, and climate justice movements. The Water Protector Legal Collective provides legal support and advocacy for Indigenous communities and environmental activists facing challenges related to extractive industries, economic development projects, and threats to sacred lands. They also focus on education and skill-development for Indigenous peoples, sharing legal information to empower communities in their fight against environmental destruction and racism.
