Vietnam Education Foundation

The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) is an independent U.S. federal government agency based in Arlington, Virginia. Established in 2000 by the U.S. Congress, VEF focuses on strengthening the relationship between the United States and Vietnam through educational exchange programs. With a team of 9 employees, VEF manages a $2.5 million annual budget. VEF's flagship program provides Vietnamese nationals with fellowships for graduate studies, primarily doctorates, in various scientific and technical fields at universities across the United States. They also support Vietnamese postdoctoral researchers and U.S. professors teaching in Vietnam, fostering academic collaboration and knowledge sharing. VEF's programs aim to contribute to the ongoing reconciliation between the United States and Vietnam. The agency is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of U.S. government officials, including Cabinet members, Senators, Representatives, and Presidential appointees.
