Van Zandt County Appraisal District

Van Zandt County Appraisal District is a government organization located in Canton, Texas. It is a small organization with a staff of four employees. The District is responsible for administering the fair and accurate valuation of all taxable property within Van Zandt County. This valuation is done annually for the purpose of ad valorem taxes. The District's main services include property tax assessment and collection. They are contracted with 21 of the 24 taxing entities in Van Zandt County to provide these services. The District serves a variety of entities within the county, including 12 independent school districts, 5 incorporated cities, 4 emergency service districts, and 2 community colleges. The District's Chief Appraiser, appointed by the Appraisal District's Board of Directors, holds the dual roles of Chief Executive Officer for the District and Tax Administrator/Property Tax Assessor Collector for the contracted entities.
