USC Race and Equity Center

The University of Southern California Race and Equity Center is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California. The Center employs 30 people. The USC Race and Equity Center focuses on addressing racial equity within the University, other higher education institutions, and society at large. They offer a range of resources and initiatives, including the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates (NACCC), a survey to assess inequities on college campuses. They also run the USC Equity Institutes, an 8-week professional development program for colleges and universities aiming to achieve racial equity goals. Recently, they launched PRISM, a technology platform designed to support racially diverse professionals in higher education and help institutions improve diversity in hiring. A key strength of the Center lies in its interdisciplinary approach. Faculty affiliates from 19 USC academic schools collaborate on research, programs, and public scholarship related to race across various fields like education, law, health, humanities, social sciences, and STEM. This collaborative environment fosters groundbreaking research, grant proposals, publications, digital media, colloquia, and other events.
