US General Services Administration Federal Protective Service

The United States General Services Administration Federal Protective Service (FPS) is a federal law enforcement agency headquartered in New York. With approximately 5 employees, FPS provides integrated law enforcement and security services. FPS is responsible for protecting over 9,000 federal buildings and their occupants nationwide. They accomplish this by employing approximately 900 law enforcement officers who receive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. FPS also manages a network of contracted private security firms providing an additional 13,000 armed security officers. In addition to their core mission, FPS provides support for various homeland security initiatives as directed by the Secretary of Homeland Security. This includes responding to national security special events, participating in task forces, and assisting with national disaster relief efforts.
